Lumen and the Lost Luxem is a second book in the Lumen series by E.J. Wozniak. Lumen was finally becoming a little more confident in his abilities as an Eague. While water bending was not easy, he was getting better at controlling water one day at a time. He was excited to learn more, but that all changed when he arrived for the new lesson. Nobody was there and soon Lumen found out what had happened. Someone had tampered with the teleportation system of Bonumalus. Anyone who wished to come to Bonumalus was transported to somewhere dangerous and strange. No one can go home until this issue is resolved, but Lumen and his friends cannot sit back and let it all happen in front of their eyes. If they ever wish to go home, they will have to find out who is messing with their transportation systems. But how could it be? Can Lumen and his friends take on an enemy that is far more powerful than them?

Lumen and the Lost Luxem was an incredible journey. As a fan of the Harry Potter series, this book blew me away with its intricate plot and smartly woven characters. Lumen was unique yet such a universal character. He was young yet he had the maturity of someone far older. I enjoyed how observant he was. He thought before taking any step and he counseled with his friends, which is something so rare in young adult fiction. His water-bending abilities improved as the story progressed because he pushed himself to make that improvement. He is not bearing the burden of the world on his shoulder alone. He had a group of friends who shared the burden with him and worked with him as a team. E.J. Wozniak handled the suspense well and allowed Lumen to develop fully before the story reached its climax. Lumen’s arc was surprisingly well-crafted, it was extraordinarily normal and very human. This YA epic fantasy will be loved by readers of all ages. Absolutely brilliant.”
