Thriving Lives Records, a division of Thriving Lives Group has released a military-style running cadence inspired by the life story of David Goggins. Written and performed by Thriving Lives founder Jim Quarless, “Taking Souls” intends to inspire military and non-military audiences alike.
First of its kind, this studio-created military cadence (known as Version 2) is part of a series. It consists of synchronized footsteps and vocals advocating intense self-belief. At just under 5 minutes, runners can complete a half-mile or one kilometer with a steady pace. To reach a wider audience with Goggins’ mind mastery message, Version 2 omits profanity. In the series, musical elements are gradually added to enhance each new track. Version 3 (to be released) adds military percussion and horn instruments. With raw, uncensored vocals, Version 1 currently has no planned release date.
Jim Quarless, a former U.S. Marine and Iraq War Veteran, discovered David Goggins online last year. He was subsequently impacted by Goggins’ life story in the book “Can’t Hurt Me” and founded the social enterprise Thriving Lives. It provides empowerment entertainment and education to clients with a portion of earnings benefiting youth development causes.
Thriving Lives Records aims to expand its message and impact by collaborating with like-minded artists. Up-and-coming or well-established, select artists can opt to create an original track, aligning with Thriving Lives’ core values: SLIMS (spirituality, loyalty, integrity, monogamy, and sincerity). To showcase Thriving Lives’ diversity and potential, an alternative rock love song called “Loveful” has been dually released. It honors spiritual women.
These current tracks and others in-development coincide with Goggins’ core message that each of us can pursue and unleash an inner savage with great heart to inspire others. Jim calls this the “Spirit Warrior,” stating the dual release captures its essence, as “one is for beauty and the other is for the beast.”
